Control-system design

From a single machine to a network of hundreds of sites and thousands of I/O points.

I design smart control systems at scale: from one project to arrays spread over hundreds of sites. The work covers the whole life cycle, from specification and first design through architecture and communications, to controller programming, commissioning and handover.

What the design covers

  • Process specification and requirements; functional design documents
  • System architecture and control-network design
  • Communications infrastructure between components and between sites
  • PLC and DDC programming in Siemens and Allen-Bradley environments
  • Human-machine interfaces (HMI) and historians for records and trends
  • Energy and process optimisation; commissioning, testing and handover

Scale and kinds of facility

  • Multi-site networks, such as a national retail chain with hundreds of branches
  • Campuses and research institutes with hundreds of controllers
  • Power stations, water, RO and CIP, HVAC and process industries
  • Defense industry and complex test facilities
  • Batch processes to ISA-88 (S-88) and FDA/GAMP requirements in pharma
